TRAVERSE CITY -- A $1 million dollar renovation project is underway at a local car dealership.

Construction crews started tearing down the Bill Marsh Showroom on Garfield Road Tuesday.

It's one of the oldest buildings owned by the auto group.

The project was supposed to start three years ago, but was put on hold because the future of Chrysler was uncertain.

Jamie Marsh, Bill Marsh Automotive Co-Owner says, "With everything the auto industry has been through, to come out strong and be working with a manufacturer like Chrysler. It's really exciting."

The showroom will be replaced with a larger facility. Customer waiting areas will be upgraded and the showroom will have more space to display vehicles.

The project will be finished in October.
