Drunk man arrested after hit and run in Alpena

ALPENA -- A 27-year-old man was arrested early this morning after a hit and run accident at Naylor's Bar in Alpena.

The officers were investigating the hit and run when the received a second call that a similar vehicle hit a mailbox at First Ave. and Addison St. The vehicle was stick on the mailbox box and the man was using his car jack to get his vehicle off the post.

Upon arrival, officers found the man to be highly intoxicated. He said he had just left a bar when he received a text message. He was reading the text message when he left the road and hit the mailbox.

It was determined that he was also responsible for the hit and run at the bar.

The man, who was just released on parole the day before, was taken into custody for drunk driving, driving with a suspended license, and a hit and run accident.

The man's name as not been released.
