CEDAR -- Maybe cherries aren't your thing - but you need something fun to do this weekend... head down to Cedar for the Polka Festival!
This is the 31st annual Polka Fest, complete with food, music, and dancing. All of the food includes traditional polish favorites - such as brats, sauerkraut, and pierogies - complete with plenty of beer.
Polka bands from across the country are booked two years in advance for the festival, and take turns playing throughout the four days. Despite the heat, many are constantly out on the huge wooden dance floor.
The money raised from the festival goes right back into the community - over $15,000 goes to scholarships and the schools in Cedar. Last year they also put in three streetscapes.
Saturday there is a parade at noon, and there is also a Polka Mass on Sunday morning. There is also a complete schedule of events online.
