The heat is the first thing on everyone's minds.

With parts of Northern Michigan even reaching into the mid-90's, the area beaches have been packed with people trying to cool off.

Some people are even fighting the heat without power. Severe storms took out power in thousands of Northern Michigan homes. At last report, Consumers Energy was reporting nearly 2,500 people were still without power in our area. Great Lakes Energy was reporting over 6,000 people without power last night, but say that all power should be restored by tonight.

Manistee County has set up a cooling center at the Manistee High School for those without power. The high school is located at 525 12th Street in Manistee.

Chief Meterologist Mark Watkins is warning us of a Excessive Heat Advisory in the Southern Counties of our viewing area. Stay up to date with UpNorthLive Weather, where you can see the forecast and radar.

The rising temperature got us thinking; do you use air conditioning? What type? How are you beating the heat? Vote in our poll and leave your comments!

Your Point of View
As the temperatures continue to rise, we're curious; do you have central air, a window unit, or are you fighting it out without AC?

We're sorry, voting for this poll has ended.
