Last week, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack announced a disaster declaration for 72 counties in Michigan.

This declaration is for counties affected by extreme weather and frost that occured last winter and spring and allows affected farmers to recieve federal disaster relief through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The eligible counties in our area include: Clare, Grand Traverse, Isabella, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Mecosta, Missaukee, Osceola and Roscommon.
