Officer in stable condition after standoff shooting

LUDINGTON -- Ludington Police Sgt. David Maltbie has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.

Lowell Fetters, 64, is suspected of firing the shot at Maltbie. After he was apprehended, he was treated for his injurues and booked in the Mason County Jail this morning.

He is expected to be arraigned soon.

Sgt. Maltbie was shot and hospitalized last night as he was responding to a domestic situation near the intersection of Delia Street and Tinkham Avenue in Ludington. The suspected shooter then holed up in a house before eventually being taken into custody.
