TRAVERSE CITY -- "Today we're going to have a Summer salad," said chef Phil Murray, owner of Phil's on Front in Traverse City. "It's the simplest little salad."

Phil is helping you create some of his favorite dishes in your own kitchen every week on UpNorthLive Tonight on ABC 29&8 at 6:30 p.m.

This week Phil is sharing his Caprese Salad recipe:

Ingredients:

One large, fresh tomato

Organic basil

Fresh mozzarella cheese

Olive oil

Vinegar

Cooking Directions:

First, cut out the core of the tomato. Slice it into about 4-5 slices. Slice the mozzarella into thin slices. Place one tomato slice onto plate and place a slice of cheese on top. Repeat this step until all tomato and cheese slices are stacked. Next, arrange basil leaves around tomato stack and place some basil leaves on top of the tomato. Then, sprinkle olive oil and vinegar over top of tomato and leaves.

"I use Fustini's Olive Oil and Vinegar," said Phil.

That's it! Enjoy!

If you can't wait until next week, stop in at Phil's On Front in downtown Traverse City.Phil's on Front is located at 236 East Front Street. His juicy watermelon salad will be on the menu!
