CADILLAC -- Police have identified the drowning victim in Lake Mitchell as 41-year-old Kenneth Bryan Coty of Merril.

Coty was fishing with three of his children on Lake Mitchell last Friday, when his two-year-old son fell overboard. The child was wearing a life jacket but Coty turned off the boat and jumped in the water to help his son. Coty's nine-year-old daughter also jumped into the water, and with the help of her seven-year-old brother, was able to get the two-year-old back on the boat safely.

The boat had been drifting however, and Coty asked his children to throw him a life jacket. The wind, which was estimated 10-27 miles per hour, blew it back into the boat. Coty told his children to start the boat so they could drive it back towards him, however while his children were trying, he slipped under the water and hasn't been seen since.

To date, three sonar units have been sent out, as well as a Coast Guard aircraft. K-9 teams and multiple divers.

Coty's body has not yet been found.
