WILLIAMSBURG -- The DNR and fire crews have contained a wildfire that was blazing through a large wooded area in Grand Traverse County Sunday.

The fire started around 3:15pm Sunday afternoon and was located between Broomhead Road and Samel's Road in Williamsburg.

Several fire departments as well as the DNR were battling the blaze and had it contained by 7:30pm Sunday night.

Grand Traverse Metro Fire Chief Pat Parker tells 7&4 news that the fire burned about 30 acres of wooded land and fortunately no homes were affected and there were no injuries reported.

DNR crews will remain on the scene Sunday night and into Monday morning to check for hot spots.
