TRAVERSE CITY -- The community came together Saturday to remember the life of a Traverse City teenager who was murdered and to raise money for a special memorial in her honor.

16 year-old Carly Lewis was murdered in June of 2011, it was a tragedy that sent shock-waves across all of northern Michigan.

On Saturday, community members celebrated the grand opening of an 18- hole disc golf course called Carly's Playground at Mt. Holiday in Traverse City.

Family and friends honored Carly's memory at the opening and also raised funds to make sure that this new playground will be around for years to come.

Michigan Blood was also at the grand opening on Saturday and was donating $10 dollars to the Carly Lewis Playground, for every person that gave blood.
