TRAVERSE CITY -- Relay For Life Grand Traverse 2012 is taking place Saturday and Sunday at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center. 7&4's Melissa Smith sat down with her mother, Gloria Smith to talk about taking part in this year's walk and also how Gloria is a colon cancer survivor.
Smith was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer in 1992, when she was 37 years old. She underwent major surgery as well as six months of chemotherapy. She says she's walking in honor of those who lost their battle with cancer and to raise awareness about how cancer can strike anyone at any age.
