UpNorthLive's Facebook fans voted to hear more about the "Soldiers in the Shadows" exhibit.

Emmet County and the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians are sponsoring the exhibit which will be displayed at Pellston Regional Airport.

The exhibit tells the story of the first Michigan Sharpshooters Company, who comprised one of the largest all-Indian units for the Union Army in the Civil War. Of the 146 men in the unit, 32 were from Emmet and Charlevoix counties.

The exhibit opens at 11 am on Saturday, on the second floor of Pellston Regional Airport. There will be no admission fee.
