LAKE ANN -- The community is coming together to help a Lake Ann father of three suffering from a rare disease.
Scott Konchek has recently been diagnosed with Devics Disease, an autoimmune disorder in which a person's own immune system attacks the optic nerves and spinal cord. The disease is similar to Multiple Sclerosis. Scott has already lost the use of his legs and is starting to use the use of his arms and vision.
Konchek is a father of three young children, and has been married to his wife Tara for eight years.
A fundraiser is being held for the family tonight at Westside Community Church on M-72 West also known as East Traverse Highway. A silent auction starts at 5:30p.m., followed by a concert.
Jetty Rae, originally from Charlevoix Michigan will be performing.
Tickets are $15 at the door. Children 14 and under are free.
