TRAVERSE CITY, MI -- Two men were arrested over the weekend and confessed his involvement in a series of parking meter thefts.

Since two parking meters were cut from their post and stolen in early March, many other parking meters have been pried open and the change has been stolen. The result was not only damage to the parking meters, but also loss of thousands of dollars of revenue from the parking fees.

Around 1:10 am on Saturday morning, Traverse City Police found the 26-year-old man in one of the City Municipal lots with burglary tools. The man had an outstanding arrest warrant for an unrelated charge and was arrested. He later confessed to be one of the individuals responsible for the thefts.

A 20-year-old man also admitted his involvement.

The men will be charged with Breaking and Entering of a coin operated device and Malicious Destruction of Property.
