Update -- Friday 5:00 am

Two wildfires are burning in the Upper Peninsula, fanned by high winds.

In Luce County, a fast-spreading wildfire has burned more than 9,500 near Pike Lake.  A mandatory evacuation order has been ordered for residents north and northeast of Pike Lake.  A shelter is set-up at the Newberry Youth Center.

The fire was ignited by a lightning strike Wednesday.

About 30 miles to the southwest is a wildfire that's been burning since Monday.  The fire is in the Seney National Wildfire refuge in Schoolcraft County.  At last report, it has spread to more than 3,200 acres.  This fire was also started by a lightning strike.
