Second motorcyclist this week killed in crash

LINCOLN TWP. -- The Farwell man was not wearing a helmet when he crashed into a road sign and was thrown from his bike.

The crash happened Tuesday on Old State Avenue near White Birch Subdivision in Lincoln Twp.. The Clare County Sheriff's Office says Mark Simmons, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Deputies say alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. 

This is the second deadly motorcycle crash this week in northern Michigan.

Saturday, James Ritter, 34, of Traverse City lost control of his bike on a curve and was killed in Grand Traverse County.
