PETOSKEY, MI -- Petoskey voters will be faced with several proposals at the polls on Tuesday.
The May 8 ballot will include three renewals and one new technology bond, which asks for a .40 mill increase for 8 years on all property.
Petoskey Public Schools Superintendent Dr. John Scholten said the technology bond is needed to upgrade outdated computers.
“What we really need to do is strengthen the backbone of our technology...we want to make sure we have wireless capacity in all of our schools and upgrade all computer labs for students and teachers...we will also add upgraded work stations in classrooms for students and teachers,” Scholten said.
The renewals on Tuesday’s ballot include an 18 mill operational millage, which provides 60% of the districts operational dollars. There is also a 1.16 mill special education renewal for four years. The third renewal is a 1.3192 mill sinking fund proposal for seven years.
Polls open Tuesday, May 8 at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
