Corrections officer is the focus of criminal investigation

BENZIE CO. -- The Benzie County Sheriff's Office should release more information in the coming days on what led up to a Corrections Officer being placed on administrative leave.

7&4 News is told there is a criminal investigation under way which is being conducted by the Michigan State Police.  The criminal investigation focuses on conduct on duty as well as off duty.

The violations were reported by another staff member and the officer was immediately placed on leave.  The officer involved has been with the Benzie County Sheriff's Office since June of 2005.
