ALPENA -- A driving lesson ended in Alpena with a police call and a damaged garage.

It happened Tuesday around 9pm when a 22-year-old unlicensed driver from Washington was being given driving lessons from his 24-year-old brother.

Police say when the driver backed out of the driveway he accelerated quickly, jumping the curb and driving into a neighbors yard. The car then hit the neighbors home and when he turned around he drove across the grass driving through a closed garage door.

The driver was given a ticket for reckless driving and driving without a license.  The passenger was given a ticket for allowing an unlicensed driver to operate a motor vehicle.  The passenger is currently on probation and the report will be turned over to his probation officer for a probation violation.
