LANSING -- People with concealed weapons permits may soon be able to buy and carry stun guns or Tasers in Michigan.

The legislation passed the state House of Representatives Thursday and now goes onto the Senate for final vote.  The bill will then head to Governor Snyder for his signature.

Senate Bill 30 would allow portable devices that use electro-muscular disruption technology to be carried by anyone with a concealed weapons permit.

Michigan law has banned the use of stun guns since 1976, with exceptions of police and some other security personnel.

Michigan is one of only seven states that prevents residents from using Tasers.

Dozens of our Facebook fans are commenting on this issue.

Regenia Lynn May wrote: "It is better than a gun. Permits should be issued just like a gun."

Cory Dean Jr commented: "Criminals don't care if they are allowed to carry a taser or not. So why not let the law abiding citizen. Since the bad Guy will without a permit."

Danielle Freville Hargrove wrote: "I would like to be able to carry a taser. I have a CPL and carry often but would like the option of a taser for times I don't want to pack my pistol."

Sharon Shelton just replied: "NO!!!!!!NO MORE WEAPONS!!!!!"
