The Coast Guard is working to free a grounded vessel, that's stuck in Lake Michigan.

Coast Guard Station Manistee crews responded to this 579 ft. barge at around 5:45am Saturday morning.

The vessel is grounded in Lake Michigan about 600 ft. north of the Manistee Break wall and is reportedly blocking about 30 percent of the channel.

The grounding damaged the engine room causing the barge to take on water. Crews have been able to remove 98%of that water, however the coast guard is enforcing a safety zone for 100 yards around the vessel.
