NORTHPORT, MI -- Leelanau County held its annual county-wide tornado drill on Wednesday.
The drill requires each school in the county to activate their tornado drill by sheltering students and staff in predetermined areas of safety. The school must then quickly provide accountability for each student and staff member.
During the drill, emergency responders staged a mass casualty incident at Northport Schools. Students acted out injuries requiring immediate medical care.
Wednesday’s tornado drill ended at noon.
