CHEBOYGAN -- As the Cheboygan County community continues to grapple with the effects of the closure of its only hospital, officials with Cheboygan Memorial Hospital are trying to help patients with the transition.
Cheboygan Memorial Hospital closed its facility, including the Emergency Room, to patients on Tuesday. All EMS and local ambulances continue to provide services through 911. Emergency patients are being diverted to the most appropriate hospital in the region.
Those who need urgent prescription refill should contact their pharmacy. The pharmacy will fax a request to your physician and the physician will write an order to your pharmacist.
All medical records have been secured at the hospital. A process for retrieving a copy of your records is being developed. As soon as the process has been identified, hospital officials will get the details to the public.
McLaren Health Care is working on integrating primary care providers in order to preserve access to care for the Cheboygan community. More details will be announced throughout the next couple of days.
More than 300 CMH employees were left without a job when the closure was announced this week.
