TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse City State Theatre is looking to expand and add a second big screen.

Executive Director of the Traverse City Film Festival and State Theatre Deb Lake says they are supporting city plans to fix up the rutted alley that runs behind the theatre, hoping to use that space for improvements to their movie house.

By the State Theatre's 100th anniversary in 2016, Lake says they hope to have a second, smaller screen -- that would be accessed from the back alley -- and that's why they're getting involved with city plans.

City Commissioners will hold a public hearing Monday at 7:00pm at the Governmental Center in Traverse City, to consider reconstructing the 200 Block of the alley, that runs along the Boardman River, behind the state theatre.
