A low pressure system tracking across the Ohio Valley today is bringing a reminder to Northern Michigan that it may officially be Spring, but that doesn't mean we can't have another dose of that white stuff.
Rain, thunderstorms, wintry mix, sleet, freezing rain, and snow will move across the entire area throughout the day today. Most areas will only receive a dusting up to an inch- just enough to make the roads slick.
In the Central Lower, expect times of heavier snowfall and low visibility, especially with easterly winds at 10-15mph, and gusts possible up to 30mph. Some areas will receive up to 3" of wet, slushy snow, and visibility may be reduced to 1/4 mile. At this time, a heavier band of snow is moving across the L.P., affecting TC, Cadillac, and also about to impact Big Rapids and I-75.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the following counties until 2pm: Lake, Osceola, Clare, Newaygo, Mecosta, and Isabella. 1-3" of snow is expected for these areas by 1pm and be aware of very low visibilities.
Take your time if you need to be out on the roads as there could be slick spots. We'll see a changeover to rain and possible freezing rain as we head into the evening and overnight hours and temperatures drop below freezing.
The good news is- the low pressure system will move out of our area, taking all this messy precip. with it by tomorrow morning.
