GAYLORD, MI -- UpNorthLive's Facebook fans voted to hear more about how wearing the color purple Monday will raise awareness on epilepsy worldwide.
Monday, people in more than 50 countries are wearing purple, but what's it all for?
Well, it's International Purple Day!
It's a day dedicated to bringing awareness to epilepsy.
In Gaylord Monday morning, Becky Bigelow and her son, Eli, were handing out purple ribbons at Glen's Market to spread the word.
Eli was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was four months old and Becky says it's important to raise awareness.
"Really, I'm hoping to find a cure. We have a website that we raise money on, and all of that money goes to cureepilepsy.org and they fund research to find a cure for epilepsy," says Becky Bigelow.
Becky and Eli handed out more than 100 ribbons Monday morning.
Becky and other Northern Michigan families have started a website to inform people about epilepsy and give them a way to help. To visit the site, CLICK HERE.
