The record setting heat has fire crews on high alert.

The Department of Natural Resources has set the fire danger at Very High Wednesday for the west side of the state.  The danger level is High for the east side.

Wednesday will be very warm with low humidity and some gusty winds throughout the afternoon.

Again, no burn permits are being issued all across the northern lower.  Yesterday the Forest Service had 4 fires.  There were 2 in Lake Co. for a little over an acre, 1 in Manistee Co. which was very small and 1 in Newaygo Co. about ¼ acre.  The DNR also responded to several fires.

Initial attach by the fire crews knocked the fires down quickly which kept them small.  Crews will be ready Wednesday for what could be a very busy day.
