TRAVERSE CITY -- A passenger had to be detained by security after a surprising discovery.

Cherry Capital Airport officials can't release a lot of information because of TSA guidelines but here is what I do know.

Just after one o'clock Friday afternoon Traverse City Police and the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's office arrived to the airport. A sixteen year old boy was detained while going through security.

The operations manager told 7&4 News on the scene that the teen had a razor blade in his shoe, but Airport Director Kevin Klein could not confirm or deny that information.

After police questioning, officials say there was no threat, so the teen was released and allowed to fly.

Cherry Capital Airport officials say they take security very seriously and followed protocol.
