TRAVERSE CITY -- Best-selling author of eighteen novels and a true American favorite Jodi Picoult  took center stage at the National Writers Series event Monday night in Traverse City.

Picoult's last five novels all debuted at number one on the New York Times Best-Sellers List and her books have sold more than 14 million copies worldwide.

You might remember one of her most popular novels "My Sister's Keeper," which was was adapted into a hit film in 2009.

Monday night, Picoult took the stage at the City Opera House, along with special guest host Paula McLain -- who is also a New York Times Best-Selling author of "The Paris Wife."

7&4 news caught up with McLain before the show, who says it's an honor to interview a fellow-author -- someone who she truly admires. Paula McLain says, "The perception among most people is that writers are all friends and they know one another, when in fact, that's not true at all. We never actually have a chance to sit down an talk, nose to nose, writer to writer. So I'm pretty excited about the opportunity, I have always admired Jodi's work and she is not just wildly successful and hugely talented, but really a publishing phenomenon."
