TRAVERSE CITY -- It was a battle of the brains, as area students joined together for the Odyssey of the Mind Regional competition Saturday, in Traverse City.

More than 100 teams from around the state, met at Traverse City East Middle School Saturday morning, for one of the world's oldest, international, creative problem-solving competitions.

Nearly 500 students from the kindergarten level through college, worked on problems in a variety of areas from building mechanical devices and wood structures to presenting dramatic and technical performances.

The winners of Saturday's regional competition will advance to the state finals, which will be held Saturday April 21st, in Grand Rapids.
