After a monstrous quick hitting winter storm slammed Northern Michigan Friday night, we return back to what much of this winter has been, mild.
Early Tuesday morning, a warm front crossed through with winds going southerly. That south wind will feed in mild temperatures leading to what should be expansive melting of the recent snowpack.
Daytime highs on Tuesday will range from the upper-30's over the Eastern Upper Peninsula with 40's in Lower Michigan. For Wednesday, it will be even warmer with many spots in Lower Michigan cracking the 50F degree mark on breezy southwest winds. Locations like Big Rapids, Ludington, Clare, Reed City could see mid or upper-50's. The last time Traverse City exceeded the 50F degree mark was on January 11th when it hit 53F. Houghton Lake also hit 50F that same day.
A cold front will arrive Wednesday night sweeping in some rain to Northern Michigan Wednesday night. There are indications that some of the rain will for a 4-6 hour window after midnight into Thursday morning switch back over to snow. A few spots could see a slushy 1-2" of snow by Thursday morning. After cooler day in the 30's Friday, 40's with sunshine for the weekend. Longer term into mid/late March, it looks quite mild with above normal temperatures.
With the recent snow we've received, and a quick warming trend, there could be localized flooding issues in some areas where the drainage is poor due to ice/snow/debris.
