Man attacked and robbed in Traverse City

TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse City Police Department is investigating a robbery and asault that took place Tuesday evening on the City’s west side.

The 22-year-old man told police he was walking on Gillis Street near Front Street around 8pm when he was approached by three men.  The victim told police the suspects began calling him derogatory names and then jumped him.  The victim was punched and kicked and knocked to the ground.  The suspects then stole the victim’s backpack and fled on foot. 

The suspects are described as two white males and one Native American male.  One was wearing a green trench coat and one had a goatee, blue pants and a black leather coat.  One of the suspects was approximately 25yrs of age. 

Stolen from the victim is a blue and black backpack with skulls on it.  Inside the backpack are six DVDs from the public library.  The victim suffered cuts to his mouth and lips and swelling on his face.  The victim refused medical treatment.
