Exams graded on a tougher scale
Michigan is releasing its latest round of standardized test scores for public school students Wednesday.
The exams were given to students in grades 3-9 in the fall of 2011, and this year it was graded on a tougher curve.
Students will have get significantly more answers correct to score as "proficient".
State officials say the old scoring system was outdated and didn't reflect today's needs for college and careers.
Some test results from previous years will be recalculated based on the new standards to give a better idea of year to year changes in results for math, reading, and some other subjects.
The tests will be released at 10 a.m.
