A traffic stop for a safety belt violation in Mecosta County,  may help solve a mystery more than two decades old.

Michigan State Police Troopers pulled over the vehicle Thursday afternoon in Big Rapids.   The Troopers found out the drive didn't have a Michigan driver's license, despite the man living in the area for more than 20 years.   The driver was arrested for No Operator's License.  After using the Live Scan system for fingerprinting, the 52-year-old Big Rapids man's true identity was confirmed.

The man, who is originally from Jamaica, is an international fugitive suspected of a major crime in Chicago.

State Police say the man had previously been arrested in Osceola, Lake and Mecosta Counties without his true identity being discovered.
