Hello 7&4 Viewers!

I’m so honored to have the opportunity to introduce myself.

Being from Southeast Michigan, I didn’t spend a lot of time “Up North” growing up, but I’m so glad to be here now.  I’m getting acquainted with the area and I’m sharing with all of my friends around the country that the people of Northern Michigan are so warm and hospitable.   From the friendly people at VanDrie’s who sold me my new couch to the lovely lady at Bed, Bath and Beyond who told me to get the extra-absorbent boot mat (it works wonderfully, by the way!), I’m so blown away by how genuine everyone is every day.

My road back to Michigan has had a few twists and turns.  After college in Syracuse, New York, where winters certainly rival Northern Michigan, I spent three years in Toledo, Ohio as a reporter and anchor.  But, it was always a goal of mine to get a master’s degree and when I got accepted to NYU, there was no way I could turn that down.  So, I moved to New York City and I had the time of my life.  I was reunited with many of my college friends and made new friends who I cherish deeply.  As much as I love New York City and everything that comes with it, when the opportunity came along to move back to Michigan and work at 7&4 News, I didn’t have to think twice.

I’m so grateful that you’re willing to let me into your home every night and I hope that you will grow to trust me.  I know that I have a wonderful partner in Marc Schollett and look forward to becoming, not only reliable co-anchors, but also close friends.

I’m passionate about learning new things and I can’t wait to learn all about this area.  I hear there are many fabulous wineries to visit, restaurants to try and towns to explore.  I would love it if everyone would share interesting tidbits about the area and point me in the direction of the best places to go and the best things to see.  Don’t be shy!  I want to hear from you. My email is aberlin@upnorthlive.com.

I hope to share many wonderful memories with the people of Northern Michigan in the coming days, months and years.

All the best,
Arielle Berlin
