BELLAIRE, MI -- UpNorthLive's Facebook fans voted to hear more about the Moonlight Owl Calling Adventure taking place at Grass River Natural Area.

February is owl month at Grass River Natural Area and if you want your shot to see a great horned or barred owl in the moonlight, it happens February 4th.

Grass River is inviting people to come out for a moonlight hike in the woods to shoot owl calls in hopes to have a curious one poke out and call back.

In February, owls nest, and it's the best chance to see or hear one of these large birds.

"It's wonderful to come out to the event, but the main mission is to preserve our 14-hundred acre habitat and also to preserve and protect owls, and the more children and adults learn about nature, the more they appreciate it and take care of it," said Debbie Hershey, Grass River's Executive Director.

This is a free event on February 4th and begins at 7pm at the Grass River Natural Area off of Alden Highway.

On February 18th, owl lovers will also have a chance to learn more about Michigan owls at the center.
