Bridging the trail gap

A donation drive deadline to complete a paving plan for the TART Trails is fast approaching.

Traverse Area Recreation and Transportation Trails is trying to complete a 6.5 mile gap that is unpaved on the Leelanau Trail.  The unpaved area is from Lakeview to Revold Road.  If the organization raises $500,000 the cost of the project will be covered.

A fundraising challenge would boost the effort, but in order to cash in on a bonus, a goal needs to be met by Friday. The Noverr Family Challenge will match donations up to $37,500.  An anonymous donor has also pledged an additional $50,000 to the campaign if the Noverr Family Challenge is met.

Before the challenge, donations added up to $328,000.  If the challenge is met and the anonymous donation is made, TART will be within $50,000 of its total $500,000 goal for the bike trail project.
