TRAVERSE CITY -- You have the chance to celebrate the life of one of the Nation's top civil rights leaders on Monday.  In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. the State Theatre in Traverse City will host a day of free events on January 16th.

Folks can check out a number of activities at the State, including from free films, musical performances, and readings from some of King's speeches.

Free events schedule:

10:00 AM: Free screening of the movie "To Kill a Mockingbird."

5:30 PM: Special concert by the Jeff Haas Quintet, paired with select readings from King's speeches.

7:00 PM: Free screening of the movie "The Help."
