WILLIAMSBURG -- A Northern Michigan golf course is on damage control after a popular Traverse City online publication made a big mistake.
The article released today said that LochenHeath Golf Course in Williamsburg is yet again up for sale. It claimed that LochenHeath would be listed for $8.5 million dollars by a real estate company, that serves 20 markets across the country.
But here's the problem, it's not for sale! LochenHeath's General Manager Michael Husby says the mistake had him quite busy Monday -- calming the confusion and trying to set the record straight. Husby says, "We had a lot of calls coming in immediately from people who had just become members, people that were having events, like golf events and weddings. All of the people were really panicked. We had a tremendous year in 2011 and for it to be publicized that were selling it. It just didn't make sense, and of course it wasn't true."
Husby says the online publication will be printing a re-traction on Tuesday. He also says that there is property surrounding the LochenHeath Golf Course that is for sale, which may have created the confusion and the mistake.
