LUDINGTON -- A Ludington woman is dead after an early morning fire.

The fire started in a home that was divided into five apartments on the 300 block of North Robert Street around 3:30 Monday morning.

The Ludington Fire Department pulled 53-year old Susan Richlen from the downstairs and gave her CPR. She died a short time later at the hospital.

The Ludington Fire Chief tells 7&4 News the fire is believed to have started in the victims apartment.  Four others were able to escape the blaze.

Crews cleared the scene around 8am and the investigation into what sparked the fire will be determined by the Fire Marshall, who will be on scene Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning.

The landlord is putting the the other tenants up in another apartment complex he owns until he can rebuild.
