CHARLEVOIX CO., MI -- A 74 year-old Charlevoix County woman was sentenced Friday in the death of her 94 year-old mother.
Sandra Gregory was sentenced to 1 year in jail with credit for 103 days served.
She will be allowed to spend the remaining time on a tether at her sister's home or another assisted living facility.
According to court records, Sandra tried to suffocate her mother Amelia Gregory with a pillow and then hit her over the head with a lamp.
She said she did it because her mother had vision problems and rather than going to a nursing home, she wanted to be with her deceased husband.
