TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse City community continues its effort to create a leash-free park for their canine companions.

The Traverse City Commission approved the proposal for the dog park last month.  The dog park will be located on city land at Division and Bay Street.  The cost of the dog park is estimated to be between $10,000 - $15,000, which is all being provided by private donors.

There is an effort to raise the money needed. Updates on any events will be posted on tcdogpark.com.

Updates on the dog park are expected during the Parks and Recreation Commisson monthly meetings.  The next meeting will be held Feb. 3 at 6:30pm.  The Commission meetings take place at the Governmental Center.
