TRAVERSE CITY -- It’s the last full shopping weekend before Christmas and retailers want you to spend, spend, spend!
With Christmas just seven days away, shoppers across the country headed out to get their final purchases made.
Many big name retailers slashed prices and offered special deals in hopes of drawing in more customers. This is also a method that many "mom and pop" shops tried out in downtown Traverse City.
The Owner of Nifty Things in Traverse City says this weekend surpassed Black Friday weekend. Sales were up nearly 30% from last year at this time and merchandise was flying off the shelf.
Fustini's in downtown Traverse City also reported a record weekend of sales, with more than 500 people coming in and out of the store.
And on Saturday of this weekend, which is being dubbed "Super Saturday" Fustini's reported sales up 50% compared to an average day.
