This christmas if you're looking to transport yourself to the past look no further, a trip to the Candle Factory in Traverse City will have you in a simpler time in no time.
A wood carver by the name of John Schirmer has been witteling away on a rocking horse carved from a one hundred pound block of White Pine.

Schirmer, a real life Geppetto loves this time of year, "I think that people just get a feeling of goodness and sweetness and innocence. That's what we try to hope that people experience when they come and see the carving and enjoy the Candle Factory."
This is john's twenty-eighth year carving at the candle shop.
Each session is only five days long and john will leave once again on Saturday.
The rocking horse is just one of several pieces around the shop that John has done over the years.
