A Manistee County family of six lost everything they own Wednesday afternoon in a house fire. Firefighters say an unattended candle started the fire at the home on First Street in Copemish.
Ammunition inside the house exploded as firefighters respond to the scene, thankfully no firefighters were injured.
We're told four children were at home when the blaze broke out, two of the children suffered minor burns.
Larry Clink and his fiance Kim, who own the home, were at work when it started. They rushed home after a phone call from their daughter.
Clink says, "My daughter was screaming at me that our house was on fire. I looked at my fiance and told her we got to go our house is burning."
The family is staying with relatives and Red Cross is assisting. St. Phillip's Episcopal Church in Beulah is also helping the family with Christmas gifts, but they're still in need of pillows, blankets, shoes, clothing, bookbags, shampoo, and food.
To donate any of these items contact St. Phillips Church 231-882-4506.
