GAYLORD, MI -- Tonight we're hearing from the state police on a federal recommendation to ban cell phone use while driving.
The National Transportation Safety Board made the recommendation Tuesday that even includes hands free devices.
The NTSB says a ban in all states would cut down on distracted driving deaths. Last year 3,000 people were killed by distractions.
State police say it could be a tough ban to enforce.
"To be stopping somebody to find that information out, I think it'd be an unrealistic expectation for law enforcement to be able to do that," said Tpr. Jamie Voss, of the Gaylord Michigan State Police Post.
Michigan already outlaws texting while driving and officers say even that has been hard to enforce.
