CHEBOYGAN, MI -- A large project in Cheboygan County has helped a local car dealer expand its services and has helped create a hand-full of new jobs.
Fernelius's new showroom and service center has opened for business.
The new building is a lot larger than what they used to work out of, and customers will feel more at-home.
The building is also unique as it uses waste oil from oil changes to heat the service department and outside cement.
"Our capacity has gone up, that was one area with the smaller, older building, we didn't have enough service stalls, so we couldn't hire the people, because we didn't have the room, so now with this new facility, we can bring in more people and put them on the payroll, and put to work, while taking care of our customers at the same time," said Dave Fernelius, owner of the dealership.
Five new full-time employees have been hired.
The dealership says they're a hub for auto sales in Northern Michigan and they've even put in an exercise room for folks who have traveled long distances to look at new cars.
