HARBOR SPRINGS, MI -- The lack of snow and not being able to cover ground with the man-made stuff is freezing snowmobile sales.
County Wide Services says for the past three years, snowmobile sales have been bleak.
A problem they're seeing is the increase in price of a snowmobile and people losing interest because there isn't enough time to ride.
County Wide also rents snowmobiles, and last year, business didn't go well.
"Last year was terrible. I think we lost money really by the time we put sleds in and maintenanced everything. It was tough," said employee at County Wide Services John Sonnenberg.
Another thing that county wide says seems to be a trend is people not purchasing trail permits.
This year, they cost $45, up $10 from last year. The money raised goes to snowmobile clubs across the state.
The business is projecting a bleak outlook this year unless snow falls in a hurry.
