Michigan Blood Donors give toys to children in need this holiday season

TRAVERSE CITY, MI -- Playtime should never get bloody but it is, this year as Michigan Blood partners with Toys for Tots during a season of giving.

During the holiday season there is a shortage of donations,  Allison Beers, Michigan Blood's public relations coordinator is excited about the partnership.  "December 5th through the 8th at Michigan Blood Donation Centers we're collecting blood and donating ten dollars for each individual who attempts to donate for Toys For Tots."

Meijer will provide up to $20,000 to Toys For Tots as long as donors turn out.

Mike Kent the Director For Toys For Tots, sees this as a giving opportunity for everyone no matter their income level.  "You can give blood and it's not costing you anything to give blook, it costs you some time but as far as a financial constraint, no there's no financial constriant.  So if people are having financial troubles but they still want to share in the joy of giving.  Isn't this a great opportunity to do just that?"

Donors are encouraged to make an appointment by calling 1-866-MIBLOOD or visiting miblood.org.  Walk-ins are welcome as well.
