MANTON, MI -- Michigan Christmas tree growers are donating 1,100 Christmas trees in an effort to help military families celebrate the upcoming holiday.

FedEx offers free shipping for the Christmas Spirit Foundation, which helped form "Trees for Troops."

Tuesday, a truck loaded up 300 trees from Dutchman Tree Farms in Manton.

"We just love to be able to take care of the men and women who are serving our country. From our standpoint...there is no better fighting force then the men and women who serve our country...so being able to give back to them...we are happy to do it," said Dutchman Tree Farms Owner Chris Maciborski.

"Trees for Troops" was launched in 2005. Organizers said they have donated more than 100,000 trees to military families nationwide.
